ReadBoston is proud to support the Boston Saves program, an initiative of the Mayor’s Office of Financial Empowerment. This program encourages families to start saving for their child’s post-secondary education. Boston Saves provides families of students in Kindergarten with $50 in a Children’s Savings Account, an online platform for tracking savings , and opportunities to earn additional contributions to the account. The program in being piloted in 5 schools during the 2016-2017 school year, with new schools added each school year.
The schools participating in Boston Saves for the 2016-20107 school year are the Harvard-Kent Elementary in Charlestown, the Conley Elementary in Roslindale, the Roosevelt K-8 in Hyde Park , the McKay K-8 and the Otis Elementary, both in East Boston.
